この曲は､1971年の『Hilltop』という画期的なﾃﾚﾋﾞｺﾏｰｼｬﾙの「Buy the World a Coke」 として始まったﾎﾟｯﾌﾟｿﾝｸﾞです。 これはCoca-Colaの責任者のMcCann Ericksonの広告担当役員であるBill Backer（ﾋﾞﾙ・ﾊﾞｯｶｰ）が企画､Billy Davis（ﾋﾞﾘｰ･ﾃﾞｲﾋﾞｽ）がﾌﾟﾛﾃﾞｭｰｽしました。元々 Roger Greenaway（ﾛｼﾞｬｰ･ｸﾞﾘｰﾝｱｳｪｲ）､Roger Cook（ﾛｼﾞｬｰ･ｸｯｸ）による､1971年のSusan Shirley（ｽｰｻﾞﾝ･ｼｬｰﾘｰ）のｼﾝｸﾞﾙ､”True Love and Apple Pie" をBilly Davisがｺｶｺｰﾗのﾗｼﾞｵｼﾞﾝｸﾞﾙに書き直したものです。それは1969年に解散したThe SeekersのﾒﾝﾊﾞｰであったKeith Potger（ｷｰｽ･ﾎﾞｶﾞｰ）が英国で結成されたThe New Seekersによって録音されました。そして、 The New Seekers(ﾋﾞﾙﾎﾞｰﾄﾞHot100‐7位、日本：ｵﾘｺﾝ１位）とThe Hillside Singers（ﾋﾞﾙﾎﾞｰﾄﾞ･ｱﾀﾞﾙﾄｺﾝﾃﾝﾎﾟﾗﾘｰ部門５位）によってﾌﾙﾚﾝｸﾞｽの曲として再録音され世界でﾋｯﾄﾚｺｰﾄﾞとなりました。
なお､1971年にはThe Hillside Singers（ﾋﾙｻｲﾄﾞ･ｼﾝｶﾞｰｽﾞ）はｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing ″にThe New Seekersはｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”New Colours″に曲を収録しています。また､ﾐｭｰｼﾞｶﾙ『ﾐｽ･ｻｲｺﾞﾝ』世界初演のﾋﾛｲﾝ､ｷﾑ役のｵﾘｼﾞﾅﾙｷｬｽﾄとして知られるﾌｨﾘﾋﾟﾝ出身の歌手、女優であるLea Salonga(ﾚｱ･ｻﾛﾝｶﾞ)は1997年､ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing ″､米国､ｻｻﾞﾝ･ｺﾞｽﾍﾟﾙ･ｸﾞﾙｰﾌﾟのThe Gaither Vocal Band （ｹﾞｲｻﾞｰ･ﾎﾞｰｶﾙ･ﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞ）は2003年､ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”A Cappella ″に曲を収録しています。
