We watched the solar eclipse here yesterday.

In Beaver, Pennsylvania, we had 98.7% of maximum coverage, so not too bad!

I didn't have a special filter for our Canon 80D camera, but I did snap one quick photo through cloud coverage:

I have some very sad news.
とてもかなしいしらせです。

On Wednesday, 12/20, our little Peach passed away.
12/20(水)ピーチが、なくなりました。

In November of 2022, we found out that he had a cancerous rectal polyp, but luckily the vet was able to remove it.
2022年11月、ピーチは、ちょくちょうポリープが、がんでした。じゅういさんが、きりとりました。

However, this past November, we noticed that Peach's appetite had been decreasing.

We took him to the vet and they did an x-ray and checked him over, but couldn't find anything wrong.

He also just had his teeth cleaned in August, so he already had basic bloodwork done then that came back fine.

They thought maybe he was just starting to age, and that might be affecting his appetite.
でも、ことしの11月に、ピーチのしょくよくがなくなりました。
じゅういさんに、レントゲンをとってもらいました。いじょうは、ありませんでした。
8月に、歯のクリーニングをしたばかりでした。そのときの、きほんてきなけつえきけんさは、よかったです。
ろうかしはじめたとおもったのでしょう。それが、しょくよくにえいきょうしたかもしれません。

But in early December, we noticed that he was sometimes straining to have a bowel movement.

The vet ran more intense bloodwork, and found out that he had hyperthyroidism.

We started him on a new medicine that was applied twice a day to his inner ears.
でも、12月のはじめ、べんいのために、ときどきりきんでいることに、きづきました。
じゅういさんは、くわしいけつえきけんさをしました。こうじょうせんが、わるいことがわかりました。
あたらしいくすりを1日2回、耳のうしろに、ぬりました。

But by this past Wednesday, his appetite still hadn't improved, his bowel movements were still strained, and he was still losing weight.

We took him back to the vet once more just to double check that nothing else might be wrong, and the vet found that his cancer had regrown and returned really badly this time, and there wasn't anything that could be done to make him get better.

We didn't want to see him suffer or be in pain, so we decided to have him put to sleep.

It was very peaceful, but devastating.
でも、この水よう日になっても、しょくよくは、よくなりませんでした。べんつうもわるかったです。たいじゅうもへりました。
じゅういさんに、なにもわるくないかダブルチェックするためつれていきました。がんがさいはつしていて、ひどくわるいじょうたいでした。てのほどこしようがありませんでした。
わたしたちは、ピーチが、くるしんだり、いたがったりするのを、みたくありませんでした。ですから、あんらくしを、けつだんしました。
とても、やすらかでしたが、うちのめされました。

Our hearts are broken, and I'm going to miss him so much.
私たちのこころが、はりさけました。私は、ピーチがいなくなりとてもさびしいです。

I'd like to imagine that he has been reunited with his brother, Pumpkin, who passed away in 2017 just before his 6th birthday.

Peach made it to 12, and I'm so thankful for the many years of fun with him!
おとうとのパンプキンは、2017年６さいのたんじょうびのちょくぜんに、なくなりました。私は、ピーチとパンプキンがさいかいしたのだと、そうぞうしたいです。

Recently I watched the new Wednesday series on Netflix, so I decided that would be my costume this year!
さいきん、Netflixで、「ウェンズデー」シリーズを、みました。ですから、ことしの、コスチュームは、ウェンズデーにしました！

I went trick-or-treating with my grandnephew, he was a red dragon!
It was really cold, about 37°F, but we had a fun time anyways!
わたしは、おいっこと、トリック・オア・トリートに、いきました。かれは、あかいドラゴンでした！
とてもさむかったです。3°Cでした。でも、たのしかったです！
