私の Origin は完成しました。
My Origin was completed.
現存するもっとも古いアイヌの着物をモデルにしました。
I made this in a model with the oldest Ainu’s amip in existence.
少なくとも300年以上前に製作された木綿衣です。
地布の炭素年代測定では400年前と計測されています。
It's a cotten cloth made more than 300 years ago at least.
The carbon dating shows that the base cloth is 400 years ago.
時代は元禄のあと、享保の前あたりでしょうか。
日本国内で綿花の栽培が始まる前です。
シャクシャインが戦いに負けてアイヌに重税が課せられる前後の時代、場所もちょうどそのあたりの噴火湾地方です。
It seems to be after the Genroku era before the Kyoho era.
Before the days when the raw cotten started to be cultivated in Japan.
It's the time when Shakushain lost thd war,
「伝統=複製」ならば、これは伝統的な作品ではありません。
If the tradition is the reproduction, this is not a traditional work.
なんとなく変更したわけではありません。
変更するなら変更するなりの理由があります。
この時代に何が行われ、どのような状況で刺繍がなされていたかを、可能な限り調べた上で製作しました。
工法も、当時に近い方法を用いました。
アイヌの苦労を体験するためです。
I did not change this without reasons.
I made this after having checked what was done in those days, and what kind situation did they embroider as much as possible.
I used methods almost close to those days.
熟練のお針子さんなら２か月で仕上げてしまうというアミプ。
でも私は一年もかかってしまいました。
論文や書籍を読み、スケッチをし、素材の選定に悩み、手間のかかる仕立てをし、伝世資料にはないこの時代に特徴的な刺繍を入れました。
Skilled needleworkers seem to make an amip for two months.
I had needed one year.
Reading monographs and books, sketching, being troubled with the choice of the materials, tailoring time-consuming sewing, I stitched something characteristic in those days not to exist to the original spreading product.
考えれば考えるほど楽しい一年でした。
It was a very pleasant year.
子どもの頃は飽きっぽくて、何事も途中で諦めることが多かった私。
でもね、成長しました。
このようなお言葉まで頂戴するようになりましたもん。
I had a fickle personality and easy to give up when I was a child.
But I grew up.
I became to get such words...

これね、なかなか言っていただけるものじゃありませんよ。
いまどき中学生だって口にしないお言葉。
それでもそのような人が私の刺繍を本物と認めてくださったことの現れかと思います。
It's a very few chance to get such words.
Junior high school students never say it recently.
However, it's the evidence that such people admit my embroidery to be genuine.
人生いろいろあるものです。
そしていろんな人を知る。
おもしろい。
We experience a various things in our life.
And we know various people.
I'm interesting.
最初に着てくれた（むりくり着せられた）のはこの人、ようちゃん。
Yo chan wore this at first.

なおちゃんにも着てもらいたい。
I wish Nao chan (my older son) to wear, too.

And a macrame craftworker.
そのお母さまは裏を着てくださいました。
Her mother wore it inside-out.
裏を着ていただいたのはとても光栄でした。

男性がお召しになるとものすごい迫力です。
I felt a much force with it when a man wore it.
