言語能力と心理的な要素

言語習得能力は知能指数IQとどのような関連があるだろうか。

How language ability related to Intelligence Quotient scale the IQ?

或いは、言語能力が高い人は言語の習得に優れているだろうか。

Or, if one has higher capacity at language

then the one can be superior for learning language?

果たして、世界的に最もよく使われるウェクスラー成人知能検査、

児童向けウェクスラー式知能検査は

信憑性や信頼性があるだろうか。

The both versions of Wechsler IQ test for adult and

for children that mostly used in worldwide in common,

do they have   credibility and authenticity as was expected?

教育を受けた人なら何種類かの知能検査を受け、

その数値がIQ平均値100を基準に高いか低いかの偏りに属される。

Whoever have educated,

they might have taken some kind of IQ tests and

they must be belonged in a deviation with their numerical value

which is inclined to a higher or lower disposing

from the average number of criteria 100.

人によっては与えられたIQ指数で自分を同一化する場合もあれば、

数値に関わらず、自らのペースで学習をする人もいるだろう。

Depending on personal tendency,

there are some people who identify themselves

with the given numerical value of IQ,

but some people they will learn at their own pace

regardless of the IQ value.

いくら数値が平均より高くても、

置かれた状況に順次に反応できなければ

その数値はその人にとって妥当ではなかろう。

Even though the numerical value is higher than average,

if someone can’t react sequentially to the situations at a circumstance,

the IQ value would not valid for that person.

私は3つの言語使用に不自由しないが、

決して平均より高いIQ数値の持ち主ではない。

I am not destitution in using three languages,

but I never have higher IQ than average.

『IQが高い人は言語習得に優れている』と仮定するなら、

同大やハーバード大学の学生は複数の言語を話せる結果になるだろう。

If there is a hypothesis

『People with high IQ are excellent at language acquisition』for take an example

then the result would say that

students at Tokyo University and Harvard University

must be able to speak multiple languages.

言語能力とIQとの関係を調べた調査では、

二つ以上の言語をマスターすると

3つ目の言語を習得することがより簡単になるようだ。

A survey about how related with language ability and IQ,

it accords that if master two or more languages

then the third language will be easier to master.

その私個人的な例として、

日本で興味本位に、

英語で質問されたIQ検査を受けてみたら

韓国で受けた検査の結果より高かった。

As a personal example of my case,

when I lived in Japan,

I tried some IQ tests

just out of my curiosity and interesting,

I have taken some IQ tests which was in English

the result was higher than the one I took in South Korea many years ago.

ニュースやドキュメンタリーを聞いて理解するのに、

ここアメリカでは2年もかからなかったが、

日本では3年以上かかった気がする。

Also, the understanding of news and documentaries by listening,

here in US it took less than two years

but at Japan I feel like it took more than three years.

また、普通の思想関連の書籍を辞書無しで読み通読するのに、

2番目の言語日本語では3年以上かかったことに対し、

3つ目の言語である英語で書かれた書籍は2年くらいしかかからなかった。

To add more examples,

it took more than three years for me to read-through

some philosophical publications without using dictionary

which was written in Japanese as my second language,

but for my third language of English,

the understanding of the books only took 2 years.

これらの個人的な言語習得経験から分かったことをまとめると、

To summarize what I learned through out these personal experiences

to acquisition of languages,

①     二つ以上の言語を使用するようになると知能も高くなる

Intelligence capacity gets higher as become to use more than two languages.

②     二つ以上の言語を使えるようになると3つ目の言語習得過程が短くなる

When be able to use more than two languages,

the third language acquisition processing becomes getting shorter.

③     多言語を話せるようになると事柄の理解力が高まる

When become to able to speak multiple languages,

the understanding of subject matters will increase.

④     ストレスに対する対処能力が高まる

The ability of coping stress will increase.

⑤     問題解決能力が高まる

The ability of solving problem will increase.

⑥     問題に機敏に対抗できる

Able to content with agility to a problem.

⑦     問題を見る視点が多角になる

The view point sees a problem become to have multiple angles.

⑧     覚醒度合いが高い状態を維持できる

Able to maintain awareness highly.

⑨     集中力が高くなる

Concentration becomes high.

⑩     不可能な事柄から可能性を見つける頻度が高くなる

The frequency of finding possibility gets higher from the impossibility.

上記に挙げた項目は個人的な経験に基づくデーターにすぎないが、

知識関連の仕事をする人達からも共通点が多く見られる。

The listed above subjects are merely personal data

based on individual experiences

however, there are many similarities in common

from people who work on related with intelligece kinds.

これらのことから考えられる仮定として

As a possible assumption to be thought from those,

①     もしかしたら、言語能力は『言語をどう思うか』によって

その習得効果が変わるかもしれない

Perhaps, a language capacity depends on

『how to think about a language』

and the efficiency for learning

it will change by the thinking way.

②     自分自分の能力に対する心理状態によって、

言語を習得していく過程が短くも長くもなる

By the mental status of how to grasp one’s ability,

the process of learning language gets longer or shorter.

③     言語は心理状態と密接なかかわりがある

Language intimates closely with mental state.

④     自信感と自尊心は言語習得能力を高められる

One’s confidence and self-esteem able to enhance language acquisition skills.

⑤     一つの言語を習得した成就感は二つ目の言語習得に掛け算になる

The fulfillment of acquiring first language

will become multiplied for learning second language.

ではどうすればそれらの言語習得能力を高められるだろうか？

Then how can we improve advance such learning capacity of languages?

言語習得の鉄則：学習の質より学習の量をこなすことに重点をおく

The ironclad regulation of language acquisition:

Emphasis on the amount of learning rather than the quality of learning.

効果的な言語習得の基本要素

Fundamental elements for effective language acquisition.

①     基本を知る

Know the basis.

②     基本に慣れる

Get used to the basis.

③     基本をこなす

Do completely the basis.

④     基本を使う

Use the basis.

⑤     基本を応用する

Applicate the basis.

⑥     基本を増やす

Enhance the basis.

⑦     基本に他の例を加算していく

Add other examples to the basis.

⑧     基本を見抜く

Point out basis.

⑨     基本を見つける

Find basis.

⑩     基本に徹する

Go through the basis.

しかし、上記のやり方を実践したとしても

それらの結果を得られるのに3年以上はかかる覚悟が無いと、

途中で挫折し諦めることになりかねない。

However, it is possible to failed or be setback

and may lead to quit in the process,

even though actually practiced above-mentioned ways

unless the one has a mindset that

taking three years at least to get those results.

何ことでも最低3年はかけてみると、

その結果や過程が見えてくるので、

焦らず毎日量をこなすことが言語習得の肝要であろう。

For anything to visualize such processing and getting results

it takes at least three years,

so the vital point for language acquisition is

do amount every day

without being rushed.
