さて、このブログにも何度も書いているので、皆さんご存知だとは思いますが、Hit-chanはミネソタローカルのコーヒーショップ、カリブーコーヒーで働いています。
I've said this millions times here and I assume you already know it, but I've been working at a local coffee shop, Caribou coffee.
Hit-chanがカリブーで働き始めたのは2011年の10月。
I started working at Caribou on October, 2011.
それ以来、何やかんやで、ほぼ7年間勤めてきました。
SInce then, I've been with them almost for 7 years.
でね、赤ちゃんが生まれたら、Hit-chan、しばらく仕事から離れて赤ちゃんと過ごそうと考えています。
Now, when I'm having a baby in 4 months, I'm thinking to leave my work for a while so that I can take care of my baby at home.
理由としては、Hit-chanの給料とデイケアやベビーシッターを雇う費用を比べた時、おそらくデイケアなどの費用の方が高いという事。
The reasons why I made the decision are because my salary at Caribou is not enough to cover costs for daycare or baby sitters which doesn't make sense.
また、限られた時間なので、やっぱり小さい間は赤ちゃんとできるだけ一緒に過ごしたいという事。
Also, the time you can spend with your kids is very limited and that is why I do want to be with them while they're little.
それに、カリブーの仕事であれば、一度辞めても、またやりたいと思えばすぐに戻るのが可能であるという事。
And, it's very easy for me to go back to Caribou whenever I want to do it again too.
そういった理由を全て鑑みると、やっぱり落ち着くまでは専業主婦をしたいという結論に至りました。
With all the reasons that I've considered, I reached to the conculusion to be a stay-at-home mom until things get settled down.
でね、先日、カリブーから1通のメールを受け取りました。
BTW, I got an email from Caribou the other day.
読んでみると、「もうすぐ、リワードプログラムのサイトを閉鎖しますよ。」という通知でした。
It said that they're going to close the reward program website soon.
このリワードプログラムというのは、カリブーで働いていると、いくつかの方法でもらえるポイントがあり、それを溜めると色々な物と交換できるというご褒美システムです。
The reward program is for the employees and you can earn points in some ways. Then, you can exchange the points with many kinds of things.
Hit-chan、7年もカリブーで働いておきながら、あんまりこのポイントシステムについては気に留めておらず、自分がどれだけポイントを持っているのかも知りませんでした。
Like I said, I've been with Caribou for 7 years, but I've never cared about the points and even didn't know how many points I owned.
一つだけ覚えているのは、前に本社から社員さんが来た時、Hit-chanが独自で作っていた常連さんの名前と飲み物リストを見て、「素晴らしいね！」と500ポイントをもらった時です。(笑)
The only thing that I remember about the reward program is that when some people from the corporate visited my store before, they gave me 500 points since I made my personal customer list with my regulars' names and their drinks.
それ以外は、正直、どうやってポイントを獲得したのか不明です。（爆）
Other than that, I have no idea how I got those points. LOL
で、もうすぐポイントのサイトが閉鎖されるというのと、赤ちゃんが生まれたらカリブーを離れるというので、とりあえずそのポイントサイトを確認してみました。
Anyways, they said they're going to close the website soon and I'm going to leave my work soon as well, I tried to check the website.
そしたら、Hit-chan、1000ポイント以上ありました。
Then, it said I had more than 1000 points.
まぁ、これが多いのか少ないのか、最初はあまり分からなかったんですが、ポイントと交換できるものを見ていたら、結構良いものがありました。
To be honest, I didn't even know if that's a lot or little at first, but I found out that there were many things available that I can exchange with the points.
キッチン用品、家具、洋服などの物系から、旅行、映画、ゴルフなどのアクティビティ系のものもありました。
They had so many things like kitchen tools, furniture, clothes, travel, movie tickets, golf plays and etc...
で、Hit-chanが頼んだ品物が先日届きました。
Then, I got a few things that I ordered last week.
まず、我が家にある天板が汚くなっていたので、こちらの天板3枚セット。
The cookie sheets that I have are already worn out and dirty, so I got a set of 3 cookie sheets.
そして、こちらの電気ポットとコーヒーのカラフと呼ばれる、まぁ、これもポットのようなもの。
Also, I got a electric water pot and a coffee carafe.
これ、本当はNinjaというメーカーのコーヒーメーカーの付属品みたいです。
The coffee carafe is actually a replacement part of Ninja coffee maker or something.
Hit-chan、普段は1人分のコーヒーを淹れるだけなんで、いつもはカップに直接ドリッパーをのせて作っているんです。
I usually put a dripper directly on a mug since I only need one serving.

でもね、お客さんが来た時など、2人分以上を作る時に都合の良いポットが無かったんですよ。
Though, I wanted to get a carafe so that I can make more than 2 servings at one when I have guests at my house.
だから、これをゲット。ただ、これ、上の部分が斜めになっていて、ちょっと想定外でした。まぁ、使えるとは思いますが。(笑)
That's why I got this one, but I didn't notice that the top part is not straight. Oh well, I think it's still usable as I wanted to.
で、こちらの電気ポット。
This is the electric water pot. You can have hot water anytime.
実は日本で3か月過ごしたアパートに電気ポットが付いていたんですが、結構便利なので、Andyっちも「これがあれば便利だねぇ。」と言ってたんです。
When Andy and I stayed in Japan for 3 months, the apartment room had an electric water pot and we both really liked it.
ただ、わざわざ買う必要もない程度だったんで買わずにいたのですが、今回リワードプログラムサイトでこれを見つけまして、「これは持つべきだという事だね。」と手に入れる事にしました。
Still, it's not something we really wanted enough to buy, but I found one on the reward website and thought that it means "I should get it!"
今現在、ポットが届いてから1週間ほどなんですが、結構気に入っております。
Now, a week after I got the pot, I'd say that I really like it.
全部買うと100ドル以上するので、何だか、めちゃくちゃ得した気分でございます。
I think it'd cost more than $100 if I purchase them at a shop, so I'm very happy that I could get them with my points!
そんな訳で、Hit-chanが頑張って働いた7年間分のご褒美のお話でした！！
I bet this is a gift for my 7 year dedication to Caribou!! Yay!
