マグナムフォトの歴史
マグナム・フォトは、1947年にアンリ・カルティエ＝ブレッソン、ロバート・キャパ、デヴィッド・シーモア、ジョージ・ロジャーによって結成された。以降世界中の優れた写真家が在籍。現在も活動を続けている。東京にあったマグナムの事務所は閉鎖されてしまった。非常に残念。
上記４人が創設した写真集団。マグナム登場よって、芸術としても職業としても写真家の地位がしっかりと世の中に認められたのではと思う。
歴代の憧れの写真家が多数在籍。私個人的には、ユージン・スミス、スチュアート・フランクリン、エリオット・アーウィット、アンリ・カルティエ＝ブレッソンが気になる存在。
スクエア・プリント・セール
コロナの影響もあってか、通常では考えられない価格でマグナムがセールを行っていることを知った。スクエア・プリントのセール。税別で100USDで購入可能。これを機に、ユージンスミスの作品、「楽園への歩み」を購入した。
ユージンスミスのことはしらなくても、この作品を何らかのかたちで観たことがある人も結構いらっしゃるのではないかと思う。第二次大戦後、傷ついた体と心を癒すために静養していたユージンスミスが自分の子供たちを撮った作品。苦しい時代が終わりまさにこれから新しい希望に満ちた未来に向かうような空気感が好きだ。なにせトーンが．．．．．などと素人の私が批評めいたことを言うのは止そう。兎に角好きな一枚である。手元に届くのが待ち遠しい。
MINAMATA
ユージン・スミスが水俣病を取材・撮影した時の様子が映画になった。ユージン・スミスを演じるのはジョニー・デップ。現在公開中の「浅田家」はまだ観れておれず（絶対観に行く）、楽しみであるが、「浅田家」の次はこの映画に期待大である。こちらが日本で公開されるのは来年かな？

History of Magnum Photo
Magnum was established in 1947 by Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger and David “Chim” Seymour. Many of genuine photographers joined. The great thing is that this organization has been growing globally. And still continuing by professional photographers.
If the 4 great photographers never estimate Magnum, the social position of photographers was realized?
Well-known photographers joined. In my case, I put attention into the works by W. Eugene Smith, Stuart Franklin, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Elliott Erwitt.
the October Square Print Sale
Signed or Estate-Stamped 6×6” Museum-Quality Prints for $100. Normally we can’t get the excellent Magnum photo with such reasonable price. This time, I selected “The Walk to Paradise Garden” of W. Eugene Smith as his iconic excellent work.
In 2018, at Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, I could see the genuine print of this work. He got the serious damage physically and Mentally during World War II. This work was taken when he took rest in N.Y. with his family. I can feel from this work that young generation and himself will go ahead into the new bright future, overring come the difficult situation during the war.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing the nice photo at my home soon.
MINAMATA
By the way, the nice movie, MINAMATA, will come up. which describe the tough job of E.Smith on Minamata disease. It was one of pollution diseases. Joney Depp act E.Smith.
I’m also looking forward to seeing the movie too.
