【１】米国での新型コロナウイルスの感染、依然として世界で最悪
米国のコロナ感染死亡者数が、ついに80万人を越してしまった。（今日の時点で803,652人。日本は18,378人。）この７週間に死者が約66,000人も増えた。また、新たな変異株「オミクロン株（=Omicron variant) 」も50州のうち、すでに25州で感染者が確認されているので、これからいっそうの感染拡大が懸念されている。そして病院の入院患者数がかなり増え続けているので、ベッド数の確保も大変である。
【２】消費者物価が急上昇
米国の消費者物価（=consumer prices) が11月に急上昇し6.8％も上がった。これは1982年以来のことで、これからインフレへの拍車がかかるのではとの心配も。
【３】T-Mobile 社が最低賃金を20ドルに引き上げ
T-Mobile 社が75,000人いる従業員に対して、最低賃金を時給＄20 （約2,260円）に引き上げると発表。［米連邦政府の最低賃金規定は７ドル25セント（約825円）だが、大都市での生活感覚でいうと時給15ドル前後というところ。］（ちなみに、日本の平均最低賃金は930円で長年あまり変化がない。）
【４】イタリアで石器時代の幼児の遺骨見つかる
イタリア北西部の Liguria 地区の洞窟の近くで、１万年前の生後１ヵ月の女幼児の遺骨が発見された。周りに60個のビーズ、４個のペンダント、１個のワシ・フクロウの「かぎづめ」も見つかった。
