君の名は。(Kimi-no na-wa) & "Kojiki"

An animated movie that was released in 2016 and became a huge hit『君の名は(Kimi-no na-wa) 。』

The film depicts the cityscape of the Yotsuya area, and the famous final scene takes place on the staircase of Suga Shrine.

The film made Suga Shrine a popular spot, and it(Suga Shrine) is dedicated to Susanoo (Susanoo-no-Mikoto), the god of storms.

In the "Kojiki", an ancient Japanese book, Susanoo, the storm god, slayed a giant serpent and married Princess Kushinada. Then he traveled to find the best place to build his palace. He came across a land that made him feel “refreshed” and named it Suga.
And then he built his palace there. This shrine, Suga Shrine, derives its name from that land. What a wonderful origin story with a deep connection to the "Kojiki".

btw...

The following is considered the oldest "waka (和歌)", a type of poem, in Japan. It is also the poem that Susanoo recited as he built his palace.
"Yakumo Tatsu(八雲立つ)
Izumo Yaegaki(出雲八重垣)
Tsumagomi ni(妻ごみに)
Yaegaki Tsukuru(八重垣つくる)
Sono Yaegaki wo(その八重垣を)."
