朝日新聞で、ロスジェネと呼ばれる、バブル景気後の就職氷河期時代の女性の半数以上が老後は貧困生活に陥る可能性があるという記事を読みました。衝撃の数字ですね。
ロスジェネは30代後半から40代の人たちと書いてありました。わたしもその中に入ります。わたしは、アメリカの大学を出て通常の就職活動をすっ飛ばし、少しの派遣社員経験をしたあとはずっとフリーランスなので、そもそも初めから外れた道で生きている立場なのですが、だからこそコロナの影響はかなり受けましたし、共感するところは多いです。
常に海外と仕事をするので、この国が徐々に貧乏になってきていることは肌で感じます。この国がこのまま衰退していくのか、世界で生き残るために変化していくのか。これは政治とも深い関わりがあります。超高齢化社会の中、若い世代にも助かる政策が行われるためには、若者にも影響力があることを示すために投票に行ってほしい。10年後、20年後の自分たちとその子ども世代のために。
I read a story about women in the lost generation. They are in their late 30s and 40s now when the bubble economy bursted and more than half the women in the age group will possibly be in poverty when they are older. More than half. Can you believe?
I am actually one of them. I was off the track from the beginning not to even try to work for a company as a full-time worker after graduating from a U.S. university. I was a contract based worker for a year then have worked as a freelancer since then. My job was directly affected by the pandemic. This is my issue too.
Since my clients are always overseas productions, I feel Japan has slowly gotten poorer. Is Japan going to decline, or change to survive in the world? This is deeply connected to politics. I want young people to vote too because they must show they can influence a number of votes for 10 years, 20 years later when they grow and have the next generation. Otherwise, the politicians will keep ignoring them when they make policies.
