A Tour of the All-New Stats Page

An all-new experience for measuring and analyzing how great you are.

In recent weeks, you may have seen a redesigned Stats page on your WordPress.com dashboard. This all-new Stats experience enhances your ability to analyze and optimize your site’s content. We’ve restructured the layout in a friendlier way, introduced new modules that reveal crucial data points, and revamped the overall look of this powerful analytics tool.

Let’s jump in and take a short tour!

Go beyond the numbers

On the new Stats page, you’ll now see two tabs:

  • Traffic: When you first click over to Stats, you’ll land on the Traffic page, which displays your site’s latest metrics. By navigating within the chart at the top, you can also focus on a specific week or month.
  • Insights: This is where things get interesting, in our opinion. The Insights tab allows you to view and learn from long-term trends. This includes data about the most effective times/days to publish, your most popular posts/categories on an annual (or all-time) basis, visual overviews of your traffic and posting history, and more.

Monitor trends and track cumulative stats

When checking stats, it’s easy to focus on the present and lose track of content performance over time. To help you take that longer-term view, we’ve pulled together “7 Day Highlights” to help you compare visitor interaction on a week-to-week basis, along with a year-in-review section that displays cumulative stats for the year.

You can also monitor lifetime statistics, as well as other interesting data points, by looking at “All-time highlight” on the Insights tab.

Know your impact anytime and any place

Everything on the Stats page has been optimized for mobile phones, tablets, large desktop monitors, and everything in between.

Having these numbers available across multiple platforms allows you to check on your latest posts’ data and traffic stats when and where it’s most convenient.

A better Stats experience

We believe that these changes will help you better understand how your website is performing and make data-driven decisions to grow your business. We hope you enjoy the new Stats page, and look forward to hearing your feedback.

It’s just a facelift. There are no substantial changes.

Jetpack Stats still lack basic statistical metrics like time on page, bounce rate, device types, and browser.

It also does not support custom events/goals.

Moreover, Jetpack Stats also do not filter out some bots.

      Hello there 👋

We understand that Jetpack Stats may not be the best solution for all users. We do believe that it is a robust and simple solution for most users though.

On bots not being filtered out, if you can provide more information about which bots you’re noticing are not being filtered out, I’d be glad to have our engineering team to investigate.

    (A bit of topic)
Is there any chance to implement a bundling of consecutive posts within a day, to make the Reader less time consuming to scroll through the blogs we follow?

      Hello Spira 👋,

I understand that you’d like to see some other options for getting multiple posts across all sites on a given day. Is this correct?

Do you have preferences or opinions on what would be most useful for you?

        Hello, Eric.

I remember that at one time it had been announced that at The Reader, posts from the same blog would be bundled together.

        My opinion is this:
Because there are prolific writers among us, having to scroll down through multiple same -day-posts is not only time consuming but makes it easy to miss posts from other blogs, since the feed is overwhelmed by said authors.

Yes, there are e mail notifications .

But, speaking strictly of the Reader experience, I believe it would be more streamlined this way.

Sorry to say this, but I’ve never found WordPress stats to be of any use. I have tried to see where traffic comes from and there’s no info. If they’ve improved I’ve yet to see it.

Thank you for responding to my post. Well, I wish I had an answer for your question but I am still learning how WordPress platform operates and such. What I have encountered so far has been the best in terms of setting up a website or a blog site.

Ooaa! Tough audience! I’m just beginning here today but am exited to examine these new features. You’ve given a most lucid explanation! Although off topic, I’d appreciate some help in understanding how to edit my profile so I can update my picture so I don’t look like a piece of wallpaper. Could you so direct me? Much appreciated if you will…
