How's your day going today?
さて、こちらアメリカでは5月最後の月曜日がメモリアルデーと呼ばれる祝日でした。
So, here in the US, we had Memorial day on the last Monday of May.
メモリアルデーは戦争で戦って亡くなった軍人さん達に感謝するための祝日なんですが、月曜日が祝日なので、その週の土曜日、日曜日と絡めて3連休にして、家族で集まったりして過ごすのが一般的なんじゃないかなぁと思います。
This holiday is for us appreciating all the military people for fighting to protect the country. It's Monday, so I think many people had 3 days off in a row with the following Saturday and Sunday.
我が家では、Andyっちの提案により、メモリアルデーの前の週の水曜日から、メモリアルデーの前日の日曜日まで、またまたパパママのお家に遊びに行かせてもらう事になりました。
As for my family, Andy suggested to spend the week before Memorial day from Wednesday through Sunday at Dad&Mom's house up north, and I said "yes!".
パパママのお家までは片道3時間の旅。長距離ドライブの時はHit-chanがめいの横に座ってすぐに対応できるようにしてます。
It's about 3 hour drive from our house to Dad&Mom's house. So, I usually sit in the back seat next to May-chan so that I can take care of her on the trip.
この日はとっても良いお天気。Andyっちの仕事が終わってからの2時くらいに家を出発しました。
It was such a beautiful day! We left our house when Andy's done with his work around 2pm.
めいは出発して1時間後くらいに眠りに落ちました。
May-chan fell asleep in one hour after we set on the long drive.
で、1時間くらいして起きました。あまり長く昼寝されると夜寝ないので、ちょうど良かったです。（ホッ）
Then, she woke up in one hour after, which was nice since she had slept too much at the point, she wouldn't have got sleepy at night. (Phew)
無事、パパママ宅に到着！Andyっち、運転ありがとう！
Thanks to Andy's safe driving, we're able to get to Dad&Mom's house!
パパママの家ではこのミニカー達で遊ぶのがお気に入り。早速取り出して遊んでいました。
At Dad&Mom's house, May-chan likes playing with these mini cars. On this day, she took them out and started playing with them shortly after we arrived.
パパママの家に着いたのが5時過ぎだったので、この日の夕飯はいつも通り、簡単に近くのピザ屋さんでテイクアウトしました。
We arrived at Dad&Mom's house a little past 5pm, so we took out pizza from our usual pizza shop nearby for casual dinner.
Hit-chanが毎度毎度頼むカシュ―チキンサラダ。でも、何か気のせいか味が変わっていたような・・・。
I always order their Cashew Chicken Salad, but I though that it tasted somehow different from the usual...or maybe not...
で、ミニサイズのファイスティーポークピザ。甘辛い豚肉がのっていて、Hit-chanはハラペーニョ少な目でいつも注文します。
I also order a mini size of Feisty Pork Pizza. The sweet BBQ pork on it, and I always order it with less jalapeno.
めいはパパママやダディのピザをちょっとお裾分けしてもらって食べました。（ただ、道中で結構スナックを食べたのであんまりお腹が空いていなかった様子）
May-chan had a couple of slices from Dad&Mom's and Andy's. (She'd already eaten a lot of snacks in the car, so she wasn't hungry so much.)
食後にはグランマとお絵描きタイム。ちょうど1週間前に母の日を我が家で一緒にお祝いしたので、今回はめい、全く人見知りしませんでした。
After the dinner, May-chan enjoyed a drawing time with Grandma. We had celebrated Mother's day with Dad&Mom the previous week, which helped her to be less shy with them.
大人たちは食後、何してただろう？
I wonder what we adults were doing after dinner??
Andyっちは確か仕事関係の事をしていて、パパはTVでゴルフを観ていて、Hit-chanは・・・？全く覚えておらんのです。(笑)
I remember that Andy was doing a work stuff and Dad was watching golf on TV, but what about me? I don't remember at all. LOL
まぁ、恐らく本を読んだりなんかしてゆっくり過ごさせてもらったと思います。
I guess that I was reading a book or something, and I'm sure I was having some relaxing time.
とそんな訳で、我が家のメモリアルデーウィークはこんな感じで始まりました！
Okay, this is how we started the family time of Memorial week!
